Who ever said photography was easy?  Not me!  Even after 40 years, creating meaningful photographs can be a struggle.

I’m almost never without my camera, and almost always searching for my next photograph. The visual world offers up endless opportunities to look and really see, but only certain “moments” tell a story, make a statement, or capture a feeling that lasts. I’ve devoted a lifetime to finding such moments and turning them into photographic art.

Simple, bold black and white photographs are at the heart of my work now. Large or small, high-impact or intimate, the best photographs speak to us without words.

For each photograph I’ve shown on my website, there are many more that didn’t make the grade. My camera is my friend, but we do argue a lot. It comes with being a photographer, I think. But so does joy. Just ask my son Douglas or my granddaughter Hayden now three generations now-photographers all.
